Galapagos Pilot Nursery
Reef Revival pioneered coral gardening in Isabela Island in 2021, establishing a pilot nursery aimed at achieving a thorough understanding of coral gardening and restoration potential in the Galapagos.
Our small coral nursery served as a research experiment to test rearing techniques, nursery design and restoration methods, to study the effect of seasonal sea temperature changes and their effect on coral survivorship, health and growth.
After a year of study, our pilot nursery yielded remarkable results, providing valuable scientific insights of coral dynamics in the Galapagos and allowing us to prove coral gardening and restoration potential.
